The Killingworth Ambulance Association annually awards scholarships to high-school seniors who are Killingworth residents and who have been accepted and plan on attending an educational institution of two or four years … will major in the medical emergency services (e.g., police and fire) or other allied fields …performed at least 30 hours or community service … and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Applications are available at Haddam-Killingworth, Xavier and Mercy High Schools or can be downloaded here. Recipients will be named at their school’s Awards Night, with checks issued upon completion of the first collegiate semester.
In 2024, the KAA awarded a record six scholarships for the second time in the past nine years, with each recipient receiving anywhere from $1,500-2,000 each. Unlike the previous occasion (2019), however, all honorees were from Haddam-Killingworth High School. Six years ago, there was one from Mercy High School.
But that’s not all. For only the second time in six years … and the first since 2021 … males were included among the recipients – a departure from 2019-23 when 14 of the 17 were female. Over the past seven years, the KAA has awarded 25 scholarships, including 11 the past three years.
